Instead of polluting the soil and filling up landfills with precious metals that can be reused why not recycle those old batteries? It hurts you more than helps to throw them in the trash. Once burned in the landfills these tiny power machines can release metals into the air and contaminate soil and groundwater via their ashes. If you would like to know how to recycle any type of battery this is the blog to check out! Amanda Wills from Earth911.com has explained the technical term of specific batteries, the good, the bad, and how to recycle them. She tells us all this information for single-use, rechargeable, cell phone, laptop, portable electronic, car, hybrid vehicle, watches, hearing aid, and tiny electronic batteries. Her blog post can be found here.
