So every Sunday, my family and I eat lunch together. And usually when we eat our salad, it’s in these really old wooden bowls. My girlfriend and I always thought the bowls were so cool, and because they are made out of wood they are not only durable, but renewable! Wood is a great renewable raw material.
I was recently watching one of my favorite shows, “How It’s Made”– isn’t that an awesome show? Yea, I think so too. But not as good as Modern Marvels, which they canceled! But I digress. Back to ‘How It’s Made.’ Lo and behold, they were showing how wooden bowls from a Michigan based company are made. The craftsmanship that goes into making one of these bowl its truly inspiring. Yea that’s right. We can still make awesome, hand made stuff. And no, they are not paying me to write this blog. Its just nice to know that we still make a quality yet basic item, like a bowl. Making a bowl doesn’t seem like pushing paper. Here’s the clip from “How’s It Made”.
After going on their site,www.hollandbowlmill.com, which I have to say really needs some updating, I found this: you can get a simple “6-inch oil finished” wooden bowl for $11 bucks! Yea that’s right, solid wood bowl that will make an statement and last a lifetime, for 11 bucks. They also make these salad sets starting at $150 per set.
